Watch: Darsheel Safary’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ Audition Tape Resurfaces

Darsheel Safary touched the hearts of audiences nationwide with his sensitive portrayal in ‘Taare Zameen Par’. Directed by Aamir Khan and produced by his production house, the film resonated deeply. Recently, Aamir Khan Productions’ official account (previously Twitter) shared the initial audition clip of Darsheel when they were casting for the lead role of Ishaan. Aamir Khan reminisced how Darsheel’s raw emotional talent immediately set him apart in this endearing new clip.

The video shows a close-up of Darsheel’s face as he gets ready for a school day. Dressed in his school uniform, he appears distracted in the classroom until the teacher calls his name. Realizing he’s being addressed, he promptly opens his notebook as instructed.

‘Yeh Ishaan hain’

In a voiceover, Aamir says, ‘Mujhe yaad hein Darsheel ka maine jab test dekha… jaha Darsheel ka pehla shot aya aur usne dialogue bhi nahi bola tha. Aur mujhe yaad hein uska chehra dekh ke uski aankhein dekh ke maine kaha, ‘Ye bachcha hain! Yeh Ishaan hain.’ (This is the kid! This is Ishaan)” Following that, the video presents a montage of scenes from the movie showcasing Darsheel in his role as Ishaan.

Released in 2007, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ garnered widespread critical acclaim. The film chronicles the journey of Ishaan, an eight-year-old boy portrayed by Darsheel Safary. Aamir Khan plays his art teacher who discovers Ishaan’s dyslexia and helps him realize his true potential. The movie was India’s official entry for Best Foreign Film at the 81st Academy Awards and received three National Awards and five Filmfare Awards.

Recently, fans enjoyed a surprise reunion of the ‘Taare Zameen Par’ stars, Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary, in an advertisement for an energy drink. Additionally, after 16 years, Aamir Khan will be directing ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ focusing on characters with Down Syndrome.
