Dwayne Johnson Is Celebrating The Record-Breaking Success Of Red One On Prime Video

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is celebrating the massive success of his holiday action film Red One. According to Prime Video, the movie, also starring Chris Evans, attracted a record-breaking 50 million viewers worldwide during its four-day opening weekend. This achievement marks the biggest debut for an Amazon MGM Studios production on the streaming platform, surpassing the previous record set by Road House, which hit the milestone in two weeks.

Sharing his excitement on social media, Johnson posted a news clipping from Deadline along with a heartfelt message. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Our little Christmas movie, RED ONE, shattered a viewing record for @amazon @PrimeVideo with 50 million viewers this past weekend. Massive THANK YOU to you and your families around the world who tuned in – we made a little history. A- CinemaScore. 90% Audience Rating. Ain’t too shabby. And don’t forget to leave cookies and tequila for the big guy…”

He complimented Amazon, too for how “solid” their planning was as he also subtly indicated what long-term potential Red One possessed. This ensemble film stars Lucy Liu, J.K. Simmons, Kiernan Shipka, and Nick Kroll. It came and went in a handful of theaters in November before becoming available on Prime Video beginning December 12.

This is the latest feather in the cap of an excellent year by Johnson, especially after Moana 2, wherein he voiced his role for the second instalment of Maui. The animation film raked in $717.8 million to date worldwide, further establishing the status of Johnson as among Hollywood’s most bankable stars.
