Bigg Bos 18: Meet Controversial BJP Leader Tajinder Singh Bagga Entering The Show

BJP leader Tajinder Singh Bagga, known for his controversial statements, has joined the reality show Bigg Boss. Host Salman Khan revealed Bagga’s entry during the grand premiere of the show’s 18th season on Sunday.

Political Background

The 38-year-old is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing, ‘Yuva Morcha,’ where he currently leads the Uttarakhand chapter. He has previously held the position of national secretary for the BJP Yuva Morcha.

Bagga has been engaged in politics for many years, having joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a teenager. In 2011, he founded the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, a group aimed at combating corruption. He gained notable attention when he disrupted a book launch by writer Arundhati Roy and slapped lawyer Prashant Bhushan in a Supreme Court office.

Bagga’s profile increased significantly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, culminating in a visit from Modi to his home in 2015. This recognition was attributed to Bagga’s growing influence on social media, earning him the label of a “Twitter troll” notorious for stirring controversies.

Controversial Past

His tweets have often sparked outrage. In 2018, he mocked actress Swara Bhaskar over a scene in “Veere Di Wedding.” In 2020, he criticized Deepika Padukone for supporting students at Jawaharlal Nehru University following a violent incident. Additionally, he has been openly critical of Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal. During the 2020 Delhi assembly elections, Bagga faced defeat against AAP leader Raj Kumari Dhillon.

What to Expect This Season

This season of Bigg Boss is set to be exciting, featuring 18 contestants competing for the coveted winner’s trophy and a substantial cash prize. Apart from Bagga, the other contestants include Karan Veer Mehra, Vivian Dsena, Shehzada Dhami, Avinash Mishra, Eisha Singh, Nyrraa Banerji, Gunaratna Sadavarte, Chaahat Pandey, Arfeen Khan, Sara Arfeen Khan, Hema Sharma, Rajat Dalal, Muskan Bamne, Shilpa Shirodkar, Alice Kaushik, Chum Darang, and Shrutika Arjun Raaj.

The show is hosted by Salman Khan, a staple since the fourth season in 2010. The previous season, ‘Bigg Boss 17,’ concluded with stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui taking home the winner’s trophy.
