BJP will try to end the ongoing chaos and turmoil in Rajasthan by releasing its second list today. If sources are to be believed, for this reason, party national president JP Nadda called a special meeting on Tuesday ahead of the meeting of the Central Election Committee. Along with all the members of the Rajasthan Core Committee, leaders of other states holding the responsibility of the state will also be attending the meeting.
The state core committee includes in-charge Arun Singh, state president CP Joshi, former CM Vasundhara Raje, leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, former state president Satish Poonia etc.
It is understood that in this meeting there will be a discussion on how to win the elections, along with the ways to end the controversy that arose after the first list in the state. After this, there will be a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
If sources are to be believed, the names of all the prominent leaders, including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will be given the green signal for the elections in the Central Election Committee meeting. There are indications that the party may give tickets to many leaders supporting Raje. The fate of Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Meghwal and Kailash Chaudhary will also become clear amid this meeting. The party may field some more MPs. Names of some more senior leaders, including former state president Satish Poonia will also be on the second list. If there is no last-minute problem, all the names can be announced any time after the meeting.
BJP had released its first list of 41 names last week. It sparked controversy, and the party now wants to avoid sparking it further. Therefore, the names of former CM Raje and some of her supporters will be on the second list. The Central Election Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. In this meeting, the remaining names for all the other election-bound states will also be decided. After this, the BJP will solely focus on campaigning.
In Rajasthan, the party has not formed an election campaign committee. For the first time, the party will go to elections without a committee. The head of this committee is considered the face of the Chief Minister. The party now does not want to create any controversy by forming a committee. Raje supporters were hoping that she would get a chance.
Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s fate will also be decided. If party sources are to be believed, the party is neither going to field these two leaders for contesting polls nor are they in the race for the post of Chief Minister. If the party wins the elections, it will make a woman or a person from the OBC category the Chief Minister.
Congress’s scrutiny committee will sit once again today, in which panels of names for all the seats will be prepared and sent to the Central Election Committee. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will also attend this meeting. After this, names for all the seats will be decided in the Congress Election Committee meeting the next day. It is more likely that the list will be released only after Priyanka Gandhi’s visit. Priyanka will address a public meeting in Sikrai village of Dausa district on 20 October.
