The first list of candidates for the Telangana Assembly Elections in 2023 was released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday. Soyam Bapu Rao, an MP from Boath, Arvind Dharmapuri, an MP from Koratla, and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the national general secretary, are all candidates for the party. MLA T Raja Singh will run for office in the Goshamahal assembly district, and Eatala Rajender will run in the Huzurabad and Gajwel assembly districts.
The Telangana MLA T Raja Singh’s suspension from the party earlier in the day was revoked as a result of his response to the show-cause notice the party issued after a dispute sparked by his remarks against Prophet Muhammad. The MLA received a show-cause notice and a suspension in August.
“Under suspension, the Central Disciplinary Committee of the party issued a show cause notice to you. This refers to your reply to the show cause notice. Your reply and explanation offered therein have been considered by the committee. Basis your reply, the committee has decided to revoke your suspension forthwith,” Om Pathak, member secretary of the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, said in a notification.
The upcoming assembly election in Telangana scheduled to take place on November 30 is poised for a triangular contest, with the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress as the major contenders.
The BRS won 88 of the 119 seats in the previous Assembly elections in 2018, capturing 47.4% of the total vote share. With 19 seats and a vote share of 28.7%, the Congress came in far behind. Elections are scheduled for November 7 in Mizoram, November 7 and November 17 in Chhattisgarh, November 7 and November 17 in Madhya Pradesh, November 17 and November 17 in Rajasthan, and November 30 in Telangana. On December 3, all states will conduct the vote tallying. Of the five states, Chhattisgarh will hold two rounds of voting.
