The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has blamed Maman Khan, the Congress MLA from Ferozepur Jhirka, for inciting violence in Haryana’s Nuh. BJP leader Ramneek Singh Mann tweeted videos of him speaking in the state Assembly, describing Khan’s statement as “a clear intimidation, challenge and threat” to the BJP and blamed the MLA for the violence.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also reacted to this video. The CM said that everything is in the attention of the government. “Strict action will be taken against whoever is responsible for this,” Khattar said, adding that it is not right to disclose “more than this at this time”.
This viral video of Congress MLA Maman Khan is from a state Assembly session in the month of February this year. At that time, the budget session was taking place in the Haryana Vidhansabha. During the session, Khan raised questions about the law and order situation in the state.
In a fiery statement, Khan questioned a Gurugram activist Monu Manesar’s activities in the Assembly. The legislator accused Monu of hooliganism and referenced videos of Monu holding several weapons. During this session, Maman Khan also went head-to-head with BJP’s Pataudi MLA, Satyaprakash Jaravata. After this, Khan challenged MLA Jaravata and Monu Manesar to come to Mewat and made certain other “objectionable” statements.
On 16 February, two Muslim youths Nasir and Junaid from Rajasthan were burnt alive at Loharu in Bhiwani. Before this incident, a young man named Wasim had died. Due to this, Maman Khan was angry and held Monu Manesar responsible for Nasir and Junaid’s deaths. Speaking of the tweet, state Home Minister Anil Vij said, “The government is investigating a tweet posted by an MLA. Whoever it may be big or small, whoever has conspired, whoever has engineered this, whoever has mixed this poison, will not be forgiven.” He added, “We will expose him first, we will not spare the conspirator after investigating with factual methods.”
