TN CM Stalin held a virtual address with the DMK district secretaries on Sunday. He sent out a strong message that the cadres need to ensure a victory for the party in the 2024 elections. He also warned that those who failed to do so would be taken to task, even if they were senior party members.
Stalin told the DMK party cadres to work as a united front as winning the elections was of utmost importance. The DMK’s statement quoted Stalin as saying, “The movement (DMK) and its victory are more important than any individual.”
While Stalin was confident that the party would sweep the Tamil Nadu 2024 elections, he added that they could not be overconfident at this point.
“There is a strong opinion that the INDIA bloc would form the government after the election. It has increased our responsibility and duty,” he said. He stressed that they needed to win all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. He felt that the people in the state were supporting the DMK and it was the duty of cadres to ensure that this was converted into votes.
The DMK had begun poll work six months ago and with this in mind, Stalin added he would now hold zonal level meetings as well in Chennai and Tiruvanamalai. He told district secretaries what work needed to be done at the booth level, the coordination work with alliance parties and how to enable new functionaries within the party.
In a video conference meeting in August, MK Stalin told district secretaries and senior leaders of the DMK that the BJP would be aggressive and go to any length to capture power in the state once again. He didn’t believe that the AIADMK would pose much of a threat at the 2024 elections but the BJP would be the main rival this time round. He believed booth agents would be key in helping the DMK win the 2024 elections and the party headquarters would be monitoring booth committees closely.
He had then instructed cadres to expound the achievements of Kalaignar Karunanidhi to the voters as he had touched many lives with his policies and government schemes. Booth committee members were to take the DMK government’s recent achievements, programmes and welfare schemes to the people and work hard at the grassroot level.
Stalin stated he hoped they would win the 2024 elections through the hard work which has seen the DMK emerge victorious earlier.
