BJP leader Pankaja Munde from Beed district has suffered a big blow. The GST department has taken major action against ruling party’s National General Secretary Pankaja’s Vaidyanath Sugar Factory located in Parli.
Authorities had conducted raids in April regarding tax evasion. Vaidyanath Sugar Factory is currently closed due to losses. On the orders of the Central GST Commissionerate, the factory’s assets worth Rs 19 crore have been seized. About six months ago, during the raid on Vaidyanath Cooperative Factory located at Parli, GST had seized some documents. This revealed that illegal evasion of three GST taxes amounting to Rs 19 crore had taken place by the factory. After which the GST Commissionerate based in Aurangabad seized the property of the factory worth Rs 19 crore. The boiler house and other machinery of the factory have been confiscated. The GST department has said that it will recover the tax by auctioning the seized machinery. According to factory president Pankaja Munde, Vaidyanath sugar factory was running in loss for years.
