BJP functionary and advocate G Devarajegowda was apprehended on Friday, a day after he sought anticipatory bail due to fears of being arrested in connection with a sexual harassment case filed against him on April 1.
Sources reported that Devarajegowda was detained near Chitradurga and is currently being transported to Hassan. The allegations against him include sexual harassment, voyeurism, and violation of privacy under the IT Act, with three others also named in the FIR.
The complainant accused Devarajegowda of sexually harassing her, stating that he abused her after she approached him to sell a site 10 months ago.
His detention occurred after he applied for pre-arrest bail before the II Additional District and Sessions Court on May 9. Following the initial hearing on Thursday, the court had scheduled the next hearing for May 15.
Devarajegowda, known for exposing issues, previously raised concerns about obscene videos from Hassan allegedly involving MP Prajwal Revanna in 2023. He also advised the party leadership against forming an alliance with JD(S) for the Lok Sabha election, citing potential backlash from the opposition.
Furthermore, Devarajegowda accused Congress leadership, particularly Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, of orchestrating the release of the sleaze videos. He also claimed that SIT officials coerced him to omit the minister’s name from his statement.
