Board of Control for Cricket in India declared that a former cricketer and a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, Roger Binny,, will likely succeed Sourav Ganguly as BCCI President. BJP MLA Ashish Shelar will likely succeed Arun Dhumal as BCCI Treasurer.
The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, will remain in that capacity. At a BCCI meeting held on Tuesday at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai, all office holders from various associations around the nation submitted nominations for various seats on the board.
Prior to the elections, which are set for October 18, the discussions took place during a BCCI internal meeting.
Rajeev Shukla, a senior BCCI administrator, will continue to serve as vice president of the board, and Ashish Sellar is set to succeed Arun Dhumal as treasurer.
Binny was a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team and has previously served on the BCCI selection committee. According to reports, former pacer Roger Binny is the favourite to succeed Ganguly as BCCI president. Currently serving as the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s president is Binny, 67.
On October 11 and 12, candidates may submit their nominations. The nominations will be reviewed on October 13, and candidates may withdraw their submissions as late as October 14.
The 16-member International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Chairman position is up for election this November, and Sourav Ganguly, the current BCCI President, is expected to represent India.
