A presiding officer on election duty in Bihar’s Munger district reportedly passed away due to a heart attack on Monday. Identified as Omkar Kumar Choudhary, he was overseeing booth number 210 in Shankarpur village. Following the incident, Omkar was swiftly taken to Sadar Hospital in Munger. Upon receiving news of the incident, there was confusion among family members. It was revealed that Omkar was assigned duty at Munger Lok Sabha booth number 210, located at Middle School Chakasim Ibrahim in Shankarpur.

Authorities from the police department promptly reached Sadar Hospital upon learning of the incident and are currently investigating the matter. At present, phase four voting of the Lok Sabha elections is underway in Bihar’s five constituencies. Chief Electoral Officer HR Srinivas confirmed that the voting process at the affected polling booth was not disrupted, as a new presiding officer was immediately appointed. Expressing condolences, the Chief Electoral Officer announced that Choudhary’s family will receive compensation of Rs 15 lakh in accordance with government regulations.
