According to sources, the Delhi Police have registered a case of sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act based on a complaint lodged by a 16-year-old girl.

“The accused, whom she met at a wedding, exploited her physically under the guise of marriage,” according to police. The claimed incident occurred in Kaithinia, Madhubani district, Bihar. The girl revealed in her complaint that she travelled to Bihar with her parents before Holi to attend the wedding of one of her friends’ brothers.

According to investigators, the victim’s parents work as maids. “Later, when the family returned to Delhi, she fell sick on June 29. The girl was detected pregnant following the preliminary medical examination,” police said.

Following the complaint, a First Information Report was filed at the Roop Nagar police station in New Delhi under sections 376 of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 of the POCSO. More information is awaited.
