In a time when app-based services dominate our daily lives, the interactions between customers and delivery agents have become increasingly prevalent. While negative encounters often make headlines, heartwarming stories that showcase small acts of kindness highlight the positive influence these interactions can have. A recent incident shared by Bengaluru resident Surbhi Jain on X (formerly Twitter) brought to light a Diwali experience that transformed a lonely holiday into a treasured memory.

A Lonely Diwali

Surbhi recounted her feelings of isolation while in Bengaluru during Diwali 2019, as she was separated from her family and friends. “Five years ago, I was in Bangalore for Diwali, and it was a truly sad and lonely day. All my friends, flatmates and colleagues had gone home,” she wrote. On that day, her only in-person holiday greeting came from Ramesh, a delivery agent, who brought her food and warmly wished her a “Happy Diwali” with a smile.

Kindness Matters

Reflecting on Ramesh’s thoughtful gesture, Surbhi underscored the significance of small courtesies towards those who enhance our lives, stating, “Let’s remember to show kindness to those who brighten our days, even in small ways.”

Her post quickly resonated with others online. One user commented, “This is what I love about our country… people like Ramesh always make us think about what is more important in life.” Another added, “Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.”

A third user shared a personal reflection, saying, “I experienced this situation back in college, and from that day, I decided I will always visit home on festivals.”
