The victim allegedly came upon an Instagram announcement regarding ticket availability from a handle called “ipl_2024_tickets_24,” according to a story in The Times of India. The individual with the handle identified himself as Padma Sinha Vijay Kumar and stated that he was an authorized agent for the IPL ticket sales. He offered ₹2, 300 per ticket and even gave his Aadhar card and telephone number for verification.
Despite sending ₹7900 for three tickets, the victim did not receive the e-tickets. Upon inquiry, the defendant claimed there was a technical error and requested that he send an additional ₹67,000. The victim kept sending money since he was told he would receive a refund along with the tickets, and when the scammer kept requesting more money, he went to the police.
