In a shocking incident, a woman from Assam was found dead in a service apartment in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar on Tuesday, according to metropolitan police. The victim, identified as Maya Gogoi, was discovered in a decomposed state in the apartment she had booked with her boyfriend, Aarav Harni, on November 23.
Police suspect that Harni, originally from Kerala, killed Maya on November 24 by stabbing her multiple times. He reportedly stayed with her body for a day before leaving the rented apartment. Maya was employed as a counsellor for a private company and resided in the HSR Layout area of Bengaluru.

CCTV footage from the apartment confirmed that the couple arrived there together on November 23. Following the crime, Harni stayed with the body, which was found partially decomposed on Tuesday. The police said the suspect used an old knife to stab Maya in the chest and had even bought a nylon rope online to asphyxiate her, indicating the murder was premeditated.
The exact date of her death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, which is still awaited. The woman had moved to Bengaluru six months ago and had been living with her sister and a friend in an apartment in Whitefield. She had recently joined a company in Jayanagar about 20 days prior.
A murder case has been filed under Section 103 and Section 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing disappearance of evidence. Police have formed teams to locate the suspect.
Earlier, a 33-year-old businesswoman, S Jeeva, was found dead at her residence, with an 11-page death note accusing a senior police officer of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. The officer, Bengaluru Deputy Superintendent of Police Kanakalakshmi, is facing charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other sections of the BNS.
