An auto driver from Bengaluru went above and beyond by returning extra money that a passenger had accidentally left behind. A Reddit user named Narasimha1997 shared the story on the platform, recounting a ride he took earlier this week from Indiranagar to his home in the BSK area.
During the ride, the passenger and the driver chatted about various topics including politics and current affairs. As they neared the destination, the passenger received an unexpected call and got distracted, forgetting to collect ₹30 that was still owed. The driver also overlooked this detail. However, the next morning, around 10 a.m., the driver knocked on the passenger’s door to return the forgotten money and apologize for the oversight.
In his viral Reddit post, the user described the experience: “Yesterday, I booked a Namma Yatri auto from Indiranagar to my home in BSK 2nd stage, and the fare was around ₹200. During the ride, the driver stopped at a petrol station for fuel and asked me to transfer the money directly to the petrol pump attendant via PhonePe. The bill was ₹230, and he said he would return the remaining ₹30 to me in cash. I agreed and paid.”
He continued, “This morning, around 10 a.m., someone knocked on my door. To my surprise, it was the auto driver returning the ₹30 and apologizing for forgetting to pay me back yesterday. We both smiled, and he went back to his auto. It was a heartwarming moment to see such honesty and effort to make things right.”
Reacting to the post, one user, laylomerry, commented, “Not as a joke, but frame that ₹30. Whenever you doubt ethics and morals among people, look at that money and remember there are still individuals who are not unscrupulous.”
