In a shocking incident that has left Siliguri residents in West Bengal outraged, an officer assigned to the Women’s Safety Pink Patrol van has been accused of inappropriate conduct with a woman while allegedly intoxicated. The Siliguri Police Commissionerate recently launched these Pink Patrol Vans, operating round-the-clock to bolster women’s safety in the city.
On Wednesday night, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tanya Roy, who was on duty with a Pink Patrol Van, reportedly hugged and kissed a woman in a public area. Eyewitnesses, shocked by the incident, claimed ASI Roy appeared to be under the influence, raising concerns about the effectiveness of authorities in ensuring safety for women.
The incident, captured in a viral video, has sparked widespread outrage, with many deeming the officer’s behavior “unacceptable.”

Pradhan Nagar Police Station confirmed that ASI Roy, previously under investigation for allegedly performing her duties while intoxicated, had been transferred to the police line as a corrective action. After returning to duty this week, the incident repeated, resulting in her immediate suspension.
