The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday slammed the fund-starved Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government for purchasing new cars for its cabinet ministers’ staff and security guards.
“At a time when the state economy has been in the doldrums, the AAP government should spend wisely instead of squandering Punjab’s taxpayers’ money on the luxury and comfort of its cabinet ministers. It must tell what was wrong with their old cars?”, Bajwa asked.

Citing a news report Bajwa said the AAP government had bought cars for the staff and security guards of 10 of the 15  cabinet ministers. The government has spent Rs 3 crore on the same, which would eventually make a hole in the Punjab exchequer. It also shows how insincere and casual the AAP leadership is in streamlining the financial health of the state.

Speaking about the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s four-day visit to a meditation centre in Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bajwa said, “Whenever Punjab needs him the most he either leaves for the party expansion in the poll-bound states or remains busy in some personal stuff like meditation. Why could not he do meditation in the Vipassana Centre in Hoshiarpur, which was chosen by his boss and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, when he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate? He must tell why he disregarded the Hoshiarpur Vipassana centre.

Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that Arvind Kejriwal had skipped the summons of ED for the third consecutive time. Why was he running away from ED if he had not done anything wrong? He must have the courage to face ED.

“It seems Kejriwal intentionally missed calls of ED to push the agency to the extent that it would issue an arrest warrant against Delhi CM. With this he could gain sympathy and publicity in the forthcoming Loka Sabha Election”, Bajwa added.
