NEW DELHI: Renowned history teacher and social media influencer Awadh Ojha has joined the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for mid-February to March 2025.

In an exclusive interview with India News correspondent Arzu Seth, Ojha revealed that he was inspired by the transformative work Kejriwal’s government has done in Delhi’s education sector. He praised AAP’s efforts in overhauling the education system, calling it a model for others. “Rajneeti badi pyaari cheez hai,” he said, expressing his long-standing interest in politics and his desire to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

When questioned about his potential role within the Aam Aadmi Party, Awadh Ojha emphasized his readiness to serve in any capacity deemed fit by the party leadership. “I will take on whatever responsibility the party assigns me,” he said, indicating his flexibility and commitment to contributing wherever he is needed. Whether it involves campaigning, policy advocacy, or even contesting elections, Ojha expressed his trust in the party’s vision and decision-making regarding his role.

Addressing the key issues for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Ojha highlighted education and health as the two most pressing concerns. He elaborated that the strides made by AAP in transforming Delhi’s government schools and healthcare facilities have set a benchmark, but there is still work to be done. According to him, ensuring accessible, high-quality education and healthcare for every citizen should remain the top priorities. He stressed that these sectors not only impact the quality of life but also shape the city’s future, making them central to AAP’s campaign agenda.

Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Ojha is set to launch his political career in Delhi. Sources suggest he is eyeing the Patparganj seat, previously held by former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who won it three times since 2013. Given Sisodia’s narrow victory margin of just 3,207 votes in 2020, he may contest from a different constituency in the upcoming elections.
