Audi Unveils Brand New Q6 e-tron Rear-Wheel-Drive ‘Performance’ Variant; Check Details

In March 2024, the Audi Q6 e-tron emerged as the most technologically advanced EV within Audi’s lineup. Although its market debut is slated for August, Audi has already broadened the range with a new entry-level variant, the Q6 e-tron Performance, enhancing the model’s appeal. This variant introduces a rear-wheel-drive option to the SUV’s drivetrain, augmenting the already impressive range offered by other trims.

Let’s delve into the specifics of the Q6 e-tron Performance variant:

Powertrain

The Q6 e-tron utilizes a 100 kWh battery pack based on an 800-volt architecture supported by the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) underpinnings. The Performance variant employs the same setup as the entry-level model, albeit with power directed solely to the rear wheels, deviating from the all-wheel-drive configuration.

Additionally, it features a single electric motor generating 326 PS, contrasting with the dual-motor setups of the Quattro and SQ variants producing 387 PS and up to 517 PS, respectively. Despite this, it maintains respectable acceleration, boasting a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 6.6 seconds.

While this performance may seem modest compared to typical EV standards, it becomes more noteworthy considering its WLTP-claimed range of up to 641 km. This figure stands as the highest across the entire Q6 e-tron range, with the added benefit of gaining up to 260 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes due to its fast charging capabilities of up to 270 kW.

Styling and Interior Details

In terms of aesthetics and interior features, the entry-level variant closely mirrors the standard Quattro variant. For further insights, refer to our Q6 e-tron global debut coverage.

Global deliveries for the Quattro variants, unveiled in March 2024, will commence in August, while the single-motor Performance variants will begin reaching customers in the third quarter of 2024. Orders are now open worldwide, and we anticipate a potential launch in India by late 2024 or early 2025. Upon its release, it will position itself beneath the flagship Q8 e-tron, rivalling vehicles such as the BMW iX and Volvo EX90.
