Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan chaired the monthly meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Mini Secretariat’s auditorium. The discussions covered various aspects of road safety and traffic management, leading to specific actions to enhance road and traffic safety within the district. Additionally, the meeting delved into several other road safety-related matters, resulting in fruitful discussions. RTA Secretary Heratjit Kaur provided a comprehensive explanation of the decisions made in the previous meeting to the Deputy Commissioner. It was highlighted that the current timing of traffic lights at certain points is not adequately synchronized with actual traffic flow, causing disruptions. In response, the Deputy Commissioner directed NHAI and other relevant officials to promptly repair these issues to ensure smooth traffic operations. Emphasizing the need for enhanced safety during winter days and dense fog, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officials from NHAAI, HSVP, Municipal Corporation, PWD, and B&R to repair and install new white strips, reflectors on roundabouts, and speed breakers in their respective areas. Timely completion of street lighting and other road-related tasks was also stressed. Addressing traffic pressure at Amartex Chowk, Sarwan directed Haryana Urban Development Authority officials to construct a slip road to ease traffic congestion. Similarly, due to heavy traffic at the T-point between Sector-1 and 2 near the Mini Secretariat, the installation of blinkers was recommended to prevent unfortunate incidents. Sarwan instructed sector RTOs to organize training programs for officials in engineering departments, police, and others to enhance their proficiency in road safety measures. Urgency was stressed in completing tasks based on the report given by Road Safety Assistants. Concerned about stray animals causing accidents, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation to relocate drives to cow sheds and Nandishalas. This measure aims to prevent individuals in the district from becoming victims of accidents involving stray animals.
