Author Uma has been honoured with the Kanhaiyalal Sahal Award for the year 2020-21 by the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi Udaipur for her book ‘Kissagoyi: Magical Stories of Authors.’ The academy recently organized an award ceremony in Udaipur, where they recognized authors with Academy Awards for the past three years. In this sequence, Uma was honoured in the narrative category.
Uma has published three books in various genres so far. Her first book established her in the world of literature, as her novel ‘Jannat Javidan’ was recommended for the Indian Gyanpeeth Novel Award. In the award-winning book ‘Kissagoyi,’ she weaves tales of Rajasthan’s six authors’ early lives, blending truth and fiction. The book was published under the Kalimkar Manch.
During the award ceremony, Kumar Prashant, the President of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, Delhi, was the chief guest, and the eminent writer Leeladhar Mandaloi was the special guest. The event was presided over by Dularam Saharan, the President of the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi.
