Pakistan’s Director of Cricket, Mohammed Hafeez, expressed that the tour of Australia presents an exciting challenge for his team, emphasizing that they have ‘nothing to lose and a lot to gain.’ Pakistan is scheduled to embark on a three-match series in Australia as part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship, commencing from December 14 onwards. Pakistan has not secured a Test victory in Australia for 28 years, facing defeat in their last 14 consecutive Tests in the country.
Hafeez, who has never played a Test in Australia, encouraged his team to adopt an aggressive, modern style of cricket and perceive their losing streak as an opportunity. “When there is excitement in your challenge, when there is a nothing-to-lose opportunity and a lot to gain, you are winning. As a team, our goal is not defined by history but by what we can go out there and achieve. The mindset is very clear – this is an exciting challenge ahead of us, and together, we can deliver better results. I cannot answer for past results, but from here on, you will see better results for Pakistan,” said Hafeez. The Pakistani team is gearing up to fly to Australia with a new captain, Shan Masood. While there is no official head coach, Grant Bradburn remains with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
