Delhi Education Minister Atishi and Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Sunday met with 48 principals of MCD schools who recently returned after a five-day training program at IIM Ahmedabad. During the interaction, the principals shared their insights from the training, which focused on leadership development, enhancing education quality, and promoting parental involvement.

Education Minister Atishi commended the principals for their renewed enthusiasm and energy after the training. “There’s a common perception that government school teachers and principals are indifferent, but our principals are breaking that stereotype. Their positivity and zeal will now resonate throughout their schools,” she said.

Atishi emphasized the Delhi government’s commitment to providing world-class exposure to educators, highlighting Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s belief that only world-class training can lead to world-class education. “We want our teachers and principals to excel in delivering education. Every child should feel valued and eager to attend school,” she added.

Mayor Shelly Oberoi noted that, before 2022, there was little focus on the professional development of MCD teachers and principals. “Our government has ensured that teachers and principals receive the respect and resources they deserve. The principals will now be able to manage their schools more effectively, thanks to the top-tier management training at IIM,” she said.

Oberoi further expressed confidence that MCD schools would soon reach the same level of excellence as Delhi government schools, becoming models of quality education nationwide. She urged the principals to apply their new skills to provide the best education possible for every student.

The principals expressed their gratitude for the training, noting that they now feel fully supported by the government. Parul Jain, one of the principals, said, “Attending IIM Ahmedabad was a dream come true. The professors there treated us like VIPs and offered practical solutions to our challenges.”

Another principal, Sushila Kumari, shared that the training taught her strategies to reduce absenteeism by involving parents more actively. Principal Ratna Arora said, “The training has equipped us to address not just school-related issues but also broader challenges in life.”

The principals expressed their determination to transform their schools into world-class institutions, ensuring that every child receives quality education.
