Gangster Atiq was shot at least nine times in the shocking shooting death caught on camera outside a hospital in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night, an autopsy report revealed.

At least nine bullet wounds were reportedly discovered during the post-mortem report of the feared gangster’s body. According to reports, his brother Ashraf Ahmed, who was also shot dead outside the hospital in Prayagraj, had five bullets found in his body. They were taken to the hospital by the police for a medical check-up.

Atiq Ahmed was shot eight times in the chest and back and once in the head, as per the autopsy report. The headshot was caught on live television as three shooters—all of them in police net—poured bullets upon the gangster-turned-politician and his brother, instantly killing them on the spot.

Five bullet wounds were discovered during the autopsy of Ashraf’s body, four on his back and one in his face, according to sources. The entire post-mortem session was videographed to guarantee a thorough investigation of the high-profile case.

Former MLA and MP Atiq Ahmed was involved in at least 100 criminal cases. He has been in the news frequently since February, when Umesh Pal, a lawyer and a witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead outside his home in Prayagraj.

Since the murder of Atiq and Ashraf, the Uttar Pradesh government has been on the receiving end facing strong criticism over the shortcomings in the security of the convicts and the way police handled the shooting. CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high level investigation into the matter.
