Etawah is a region in Yadavland, Uttar Pradesh, where for a long time, the dominance was held by cyclists alone. However, in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP planted its flag on the stronghold of the Mulayam family.
Etawah has always been a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party, but now the political scenario here has completely changed. Currently, the Member of Parliament from here is Ram Shankar Katheria, a prominent leader of the BJP. Expressing confidence in MP Ram Shankar Katheria once again, the BJP has declared him as the candidate from the Etawah Lok Sabha seat.

Having been a Member of Parliament twice from Agra and a former Minister of State, Prof. Ram Shankar Katheria was fielded from the Etawah seat in 2019. At that time, he defeated Kamlesh Katheria, the son of former Samajwadi Party MP Premdas Katheria.
Ram Shankar Katheria has had an illustrious political journey. He also served as the Chairman of the National Scheduled Caste Commission in 2017 and was the Minister of State for Human Resource Development in 2015. In the same year, he became the National General Secretary of the BJP. Additionally, he held responsibilities for Punjab and Chhattisgarh in 2015.

In 2011, he served as a Hindi lecturer at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra and became the National Coordinator of the Save Reservation Forum in 2010. He has successfully created an identity for himself as an active Member of Parliament in his constituency.
Etawah Lok Sabha seat, in existence since 1957, was initially a stronghold of the Congress before the Samajwadi Party. It has witnessed victories by the Samajwadi Party four times, Congress four times, and BJP three times. In 1991, Kanshi Ram also won elections from BSP.
