A ground-level survey of the Rohtak Parliamentary constituency was conducted by India News to analyse the performance of Arvind Sharma, the Member of Parliament from Rohtak, and gather voters’ feedback about him.
The Rohtak Lok Sabha seat is a stronghold of the Hooda family. Before the formation of Haryana, this seat was in Punjab. In the 17 elections held from the first Lok Sabha election in 1952 until today, Congress has won this seat 10 times, but in recent years, BJP has strengthened its grip here. Currently, BJP’s prominent leader Arvind Sharma represents the constituency in Parliament. He is a professional dental practitioner.
Arvind Sharma, a former Congress member, contested and won the 17th Lok Sabha election as a BJP candidate from Rohtak. He was first elected as an independent candidate for the Sonipat Lok Sabha seat in 1996. In the 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he consecutively became the MP from Karnal but faced defeat in the 2014 general elections.
Arvind Sharma is known for his statements, often targeting Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and taking independent stands in politics. He has a unique identity and charisma in politics.
Arvind Sharma is quite popular among the people, and besides politics, he is known for his dental profession. The 2019 elections marked the first time in BJP’s history that it failed to win the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat. Even during the Modi wave in 2014, Rohtak was the only seat won by Congress. However, in 2019, the BJP managed to secure victory in this seat.
Rohtak is witnessing rapid development, and it is said that under the Haryana government led by Hooda, development has mainly occurred in Rohtak. All nine assembly constituencies in Rohtak show signs of progress. The Rohtak Lok Sabha seat has around 1.7 million voters, and it is also known as Jatland due to the highest Jat population.
Despite the apparent development in Rohtak, there are long-standing issues that persist throughout the year, and the public is facing several challenges. The 2024 general elections are crucial, and before voting, the people of Rohtak will undoubtedly evaluate the work done by MP Arvind Sharma. India News is also conducting accurate surveys to assess the performance of the MP, keeping the public’s opinion in front of the nation.
