A family of six members including a minor girl and a boy, sustained severe burn injuries after illegally stored firecrackers in their house in Nakhrola village in Manesar exploded on Wednesday around 3.30pm.As the police suspects, the explosion took place because of huge amount of illegally stored firecrackers, gunpowder and chemicals in the house. It’s intensity was soo high that the bang was heard by the villagers from a kilometre away and the roof and walls of the house blew off. Police also said the explosion could have been worse if the two cooking cylinders in the kitchen would’ve caught fire.Police said they got to know from villagers that the house owner, Jai Bhagwan whose age was 40, was carrying out this illegal activity for at least the past 15 years and used to pick up fights whenever others asked him to stop it.Suresh Panghal, assistant commissioner of police (Manesar), said, “However, looking at the serious nature of their injuries, they were later shifted to Safdarjung hospital for specialised treatment for the burn injuries.”He also told, “In view of Diwali and the wedding season, he was probably manufacturing them on a large scale. Police found several types of fully manufactured crackers such as rockets and small explosives at the house. Besides, large quantities of raw material and chemicals were also stored in the house.”The ACP said that they are in the process of registering an FIR under relevant sections of the Explosives Act and Indian Penal Code at Kherki Daula police station.Panghal said that civil defence members and firefighters had also rushed to the spot after being alerted. The ACP said, “Ballistic experts would reach the spot on Thursday morning to collect crackers and chemical samples for forensic analysis.”
