Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir is witnessing a sharp dip in the fresh cases of Covid-19. The dipping cases is giving the administration ample time to augment the health infrastructure to tackle the possible third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.On Tuesday, J&K administration received nine medical oxygen plants from Germany which will be installed in various health facilities across the two regions, while the government is trying to make all the Covid care centers at the panchayat level functional. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner, Pandurang K. Pole, received the consignment of oxygen plants on Tuesday and out of these plants five would be installed in Kashmir valley while the four would be installed in Jammu and region. Official’s spokesman of J&K government said that five oxygen plants with generation capacity of 4,000 LPM shall be installed at Kupwara Community Health Centre (CHC), Pulwama District Hospital and Bemina Children Hospital each with the capacity of 1,000 LPM. He further said that oxygen plants with 500 LPM generation capacity shall be installed at CHC Chanpora in Srinagar city, and Trauma Hospital, Bijbehara in South Kashmir. The government of Jammu and Kashmir, in its official statement to the media, said, “At present, J&K has 40 functional oxygen generation plants and the addition of nine more would enhance the availability of medical oxygen in hospitals of J&K raising it to more than 60,000 LPM”.
