Arun Kumar Sinha, the director of the Special Protection Group (SPG), passed suddenly early on Wednesday at a hospital in Gurugram, an official reported. He was 61 years old and had been ill for a while. Sinha has been the SPG Director since 2016 and is an IPS officer from the 1987 batch and Kerala cadre. He recently received a service extension. The Special Protection Group (SPG) was established in 1985 with the goal of offering the Prime Minister, previous Prime Ministers, and their close family members close security protection. Later, their charter was changed, and they are now only responsible for providing protection for the current prime minister. In Thiruvananthapuram, Sinha has held the positions of DCP Commissioner, Range IG, Intelligence IG, and Administration IG.
