The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Arun Govil highlighted on Monday the quality that sets Prime Minister Modi apart: his capacity to keep his word. Govil is running for the seat of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Govil emphasised that the BJP is the only political party in the nation that places as much emphasis on nationalism.

In an interview with ANI, Govil underscored the BJP’s commendable track record, particularly its unwavering commitment to nationalism. He also reflected on his own image, associating it with Lord Ram while emphasizing his integrity and honesty. Govil praised the Modi government for its achievements, including safeguarding women’s dignity, providing gas connections and houses to millions of women, constructing highways, and extending medical insurance to the poor. He emphasized that Modi’s credibility lies in his ability to deliver on his commitments, expressing confidence that the BJP would secure a significant victory in the upcoming elections.

Govil further remarked on the newfound respect he has gained since entering politics, surpassing even the recognition he received for portraying the character of Lord Ram. He expressed optimism about the BJP’s prospects in winning the Meerut seat, attributing the party’s success to the high brand value of PM Modi and the overarching objective of fostering a developed India.

In the electoral arena, Govil faces competition from Bhanu Pratap Singh of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Devvrath Tyagi of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the Meerut seat. The constituency is scheduled for polling in the second phase on April 26, along with several other seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Amroha, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr.

Notably, the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in western Uttar Pradesh witnessed a voter turnout of 60.25 percent across eight parliamentary constituencies, including Muzaffarnagar, Nagina, Saharanpur, Kairana, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Bijnor, and Rampur, held on Friday.
