The Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Pande, held discussions with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday, addressing matters of national security. The meeting follows the Army Chief’s visit to the Rajouri-Poonch sector on Monday, where he reviewed the security situation amid ongoing inquiries into recent incidents.

During his visit to the Rajouri-Poonch sector, General Pande inspected the area where recent attacks on security forces occurred. Notably, a Brigadier has been attached to a Staff Court of Inquiry, initiated by the Army, to investigate the deaths of three civilians in Army custody after the Dera ki Gali attack. The attack claimed the lives of four troops, contributing to the recurrent losses suffered by the force in the region over the past few months, according to Army sources.

The Army Chief received briefings on the ground situation from Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and other senior officers. Discussions focused on the steps taken to address security gaps in the region and enhance overall situational awareness.

The visit and subsequent discussions underscore the commitment of the Indian Army to ensuring the security and well-being of the nation, particularly in areas facing heightened security challenges.
