The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of Three Lawyers and the Judicial Officer for the appointment as the judge of the High Court Of Uttarakhand.
Advocate Rakesh Thapliyal,
Advocate Shri Pankaj Purohit, and
Advocate Subhash Upadhyay.
Judicial Officers:
Supreme Court Collegium recommended Vivek Bharti Sharma as the Judge of Uttarakhand High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium noted that the above recommendations was made by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues on 07.09.2022.
Therefore, the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Uttarakhand also concurred with the recommendation and the file was being received in the Supreme Court from the Department of Justice on 01.04.2023.
The Supreme Court Collegium scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record which includes the certain complaints, which being for the purpose of assessing the merit and for the suitability of the name of the candidate mentioned for the elevation to the High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium in its statement took note of the fact that it being difficult to identify other suitable names from the Bar.
The Supreme Court Collegium also consulted with the judges of the Supreme Court being conversant with the affairs of the Uttarakhand High Court, wherein following, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the above names for the appointment as Judge of Uttarakhand High Court.
