The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in many parts of Tamil Nadu over the next seven days. Additionally, Puducherry and Karaikal regions are expected to witness rainfall at one or two places in the coming days.

According to the latest release from the IMD, light to moderate rain is expected in numerous locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on January 8. The release also highlighted the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over specific districts, including Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, and Tiruvannamalai.

On January 8, heavy rain is predicted at isolated places in Toothukudi, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Thanjavur, Kallakurichi, Salem, Vellore, Ranipet, Kanchipuram, Chennai, and Tiruvallur districts of Tamil Nadu. The forecast extends to January 9, where many places in South Tamil Nadu and a few places in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places. Isolated heavy rain is also likely in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts on January 9.

Looking ahead, the IMD predicts light to moderate rain at one or two places on January 11, 12, and 13 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas. The release further includes a heavy rainfall warning for specific districts on the mentioned days.

The sky condition is expected to be generally cloudy for the next 24 hours, as per the IMD release issued at 1 pm today. The maximum temperature is likely to range between 26-27 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature of 22-23 degrees Celsius.

Residents and authorities in the mentioned regions are advised to stay informed about the weather updates and take necessary precautions during the anticipated rainfall.
