In a recent development, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced to set up another film city in Hyderabad with international standards and the government would allot 1,500 to 2,000 acres of land for the project.
The CM instructed the officials that a delegation of officials and film personalities should visit Bulgaria, see the film city there and prepare proposals for the Film City in Hyderabad. He also announced that film shootings and cinema theatres can re-open now as the unlock process had begun.
Tollywood megastars Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna met the CM at Pragathi Bhavan and a discussion took place on the development of the film industry and its expansion in Telangana.
Roads & Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, State Planning Board Vice Chairman B. Vinod Kumar, Rajya Sabha member J. Santosh Kumar were also present there.
“In Telangana, there are about 10 lakh people who are directly or indirectly dependent on the film industry. Due to the cancellation of shootings and closure of theatres due to corona restrictions, they all have lost their livelihood. Corona’s recovery rate in the state is at 91.88 percent. Movie shootings have resumed now and the families dependent on the film industry should come out of their problems,” the CM said.
“There are ample opportunities to develop and expand the film industry in the state. Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan city. People from different parts of the country and different mother tongues have settled here. The city can offer shelter to anyone. Wonderful facilities can be created here for the film shootings and all other filmmaking activities to take place comfortably,” the CM said, adding: “Provision will be created at the proposed film city for an airstrip.”
Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna told the CM that shootings have resumed following permissions given by the government and theatres too would be open shortly.
