Angry locals set fire to a resort owned by a BJP leader’s son over a murder case

As the outpouring of rage over the alleged murder of a 19-year-old Uttarakhand woman by the son of a BJP leader raged on Saturday, locals vandalised and set fire to the accused’s resort. A portion of the resort was previously demolished on the order of Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who expressed grief over the woman’s death and announced the formation of a SIT led by DIG police P Renuka Devi to conduct a prompt investigation into the killing.

Pulkit Arya, the son of BJP leader Vinod Arya and the main suspect in the murder case, was arrested along with two resort employees.

Locals, enraged by the murder case, protested against BJP MLA Renu Bisht on Saturday, vandalising her car. Police escorted the MLA away.
