HYDERABAD: The Andhra government filed FIRs against the Ramesh Hospital and Swarna Palace hotel management for the deadly fire which killed at least 10 Covid-19 patients at a Covid care facility in Vijayawada. An FIR was filed based on a complaint from the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Vijayawada Central. Ramesh Hospital denied any role in the management of Covid-19 Centre in hotel Swarna Palace where the fire mishap occurred. Hospital chairman Dr Ramesh Babu said, “The hospital management was only responsible for providing health services and timely treatment to corona patients. Hospital premises were fully converted into Covid facility at the orders of the District Collector. As the bed strength was not enough to meet emerging cases, they gave services at Swarna Palace. This was done with the approval of the government. We have nothing to do with the daily management of the centre. Three of Ramesh Hospital staff including the Chief Operating Officer have been arrested.
