Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has criticized the former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, stating that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, assumed power during a period of significant financial mismanagement in the state.
Kalyan accused the previous administration, under Jagan Mohan Reddy, of neglecting development and failing to provide employment opportunities for the youth over the past few years. “We came to power at a time when there was financial mismanagement and misappropriation in the state. The financial situation is chaotic,” he said, highlighting the mandate given to the NDA, which secured over 160 assembly seats and 21 parliamentary seats.
His remarks came during the 100-day celebrations following the NDA coalition government’s return to power. Kalyan noted, “It is quite a challenge for all of us. People became frustrated with the previous government, and we fought hard to form the new government. One key observation was the lack of employment for youth.”
He also mentioned that upon taking office, the NDA government prioritized filling teacher positions, with 16,437 posts being addressed. Kalyan criticized the previous government’s focus on welfare at the expense of developmental initiatives.
The NDA coalition, consisting of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), BJP, and Janasena Party, achieved a decisive victory in both the assembly and parliamentary elections. The TDP secured 135 MLAs, while the Janasena Party won all 21 constituencies it contested. The BJP holds eight seats, and the opposition YSR Congress Party has 11 MLAs in the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
