Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has affirmed that he has ample time to decide on his contract with the LaLiga club, despite persistent rumors linking him to the Brazil national team’s top coaching position.
Ancelotti’s current contract is set to conclude at the end of the season, and former Brazilian FA (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues has identified the 64-year-old as the preferred candidate to succeed Tite, who departed after Brazil’s quarter-final exit in the previous World Cup.
Addressing the speculation in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s home game against Villarreal, Ancelotti jokingly remarked about receiving a Christmas present from the club. He emphasized that staying as the head coach of Real Madrid is the most important gift for him, adding, “We still have time to think about that (contract extension).”
Ancelotti expressed his primary focus on the upcoming matches, stating, “The thing I want the most is to finish well this year by winning these two games left, so we can have a quiet Christmas.” Real Madrid, currently positioned second in LaLiga, aims to potentially surpass leaders Girona by securing victory over 14th-placed Villarreal in their upcoming match.
The Italian manager remains committed to navigating the remainder of the season before making decisions about his contract extension.
