On December 13, Bollywood came together to celebrate 100 years of the legendary Raj Kapoor in a grand, star-studded event held in Mumbai. The Kapoor family marked the occasion by honoring the iconic actor’s birth anniversary in a heartfelt celebration.
He is, after all, Raj Kapoor-the ‘greatest showman’ of Indian cinema-left behind an unparalleled legacy with his larger-than-life persona, timeless performances, and exceptional storytelling. Known for his groundbreaking contributions, this year would have marked Raj Kapoor’s 100th birthday. Amul India joined in the celebration by paying a heartfelt tribute with a special doodle.
Today, the doodle featured the caption, “Aaj bhi dilon pe RAJ hai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the legendary actor through a series of heartfelt posts on X. Reflecting on Raj Kapoor’s impact, he wrote, “Today, we mark the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor, a visionary filmmaker, actor and the eternal showman! His genius transcended generations, leaving an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema.”. Shri Raj Kapoor’s passion towards cinema began at a young age and worked hard to emerge as a pioneering storyteller.

Ahead of the grand celebration, the Kapoor family visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on December 14 to personally invite him to honor Raj Kapoor’s centenary. The meeting included Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Bharat Sahni, Rima Jain, Manoj Jain, Aadar Jain, Armaan Jain, and his wife Anissa Malhotra.
