Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sukhchain Singh Gill, said on Monday that they have a very strong suspicion of an ISI angle and foreign funding in ‘Waris Punjab De,’ despite the fact that 114 people have been arrested so far and the hunt for fugitive Amritpal Singh is still ongoing.

In a press briefing, Punjab IGP said that, “We have a very strong suspicion of an ISI angle, based on the facts and circumstances that have come to light so far. We also have a very strong suspicion of foreign funding. Going by the circumstances, it seems that ISI is involved and there is foreign funding as well.”

He furthermore revealed that ever since the crackdown has launched a total of 114 people have been arrested. In a statement Gill said that, “So far, 114 elements, who attempted to disturb peace and harmony, have been arrested. A total of 78 of them were arrested on the first day, 34 on day two and the remainder were arrested last night.”

He also said that NSA has been invoked against the five people who already got caught. In addition, he stated that after four close aides of pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh were detained and flown to Assam’s Dibrugarh, one more detainee, Harjeet Singh, who is identified as the uncle of the Khalistan sympathizer, is on his way to Dibrugarh.
