Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid President Droupadi Murmu a courtesy call at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the national capital on Friday.

“Today, I paid a courtesy call to respected President Mrs Droupadi Murmu,” Shah tweeted. Shah met with the President just a day after returning from a four-day stocktake in Manipur, which has been rocked by violence. In the northeastern state, he also met a diverse range of people.

”Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted.

On Thursday, Shah held a press conference in Manipur and announced the formation of an investigation panel led by a retired High Court judge to look into the recent violence in the state.

He also stated that a peace committee would be formed under the chairmanship of the Governor of Manipur, with representatives from all sections included.

Shah urged everyone in violence-torn Manipur to keep the peace, hold discussions, and promote harmony. He urged the people of Manipur not to believe rumors and to keep the peace. The Home Minister expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed in violence in the State on behalf of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
