SRINAGAR: Despite authorities struggling to flatten the curve of Covid-19 wave in Leh, the government has decided to resume the flight operations between Leh and Jammu as there was a demand from the locals for its resumption.

Reports said that flight operations between Jammu and Leh resumed on Friday, while the health officials of Ladakh said that despite their best efforts, Covid-19 cases continue to be a challenge.

Leh operations of the flights were suspended along with other places as the Ministry of Civil Aviation had suspended domestic passenger flights across the country in March this year because of the pandemic.

It is in place to mention that Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh delegation took up the matter with the Ministry of Civil Aviation requesting them for the resumption of Air India flight operations between Leh and Jammu. LAHDC delegation urged for the resumption as there were a lot of patients and students who wanted to move out from Ladakh.According to the official communication these flights will operate every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday in a week. Due to the heavy snowfall on Zojila pass, Srinagar-Leh road remains closed for several months of winters and similarly even the Leh-Manali road remains closed due to the heavy snowfall in the area.
