Harendra Singh, DCP of the outer district of the Delhi Police, waved off two ambulances to assist families with the free transportation of their loved ones’ bodies to their homes and to the mortuary.

On Tuesday, the ambulances were launched under the community policing initiative ‘Antim Safar’ from the DCP office complex. The ambulances will be deployed free of charge by the NGO under the jurisdiction of the Outer District, as per the statement.

“The services of these ambulances would be utilised for transportation of unclaimed dead corpses located during the Police Control Room (PCR) calls to the mortuary as well as transportation of the deceased to their native areas, the statement read.

In order to encourage more people to use the free ambulance service, it was also stated that the ambulance service’s phone number was posted in conspicuous locations across the Outer District.

“The NGO was also encouraged for their contribution towards this noble cause,” the statement said.
Taking to Twitter DCP Harendra Singh said on Wednesday, “Flagged off two ambulances in the outer district, Delhi. Under community policing initiative ‘Antim Safar’ in association with NGO ‘Shanti Sewa Sansthan’. These ambulances will be available to the families to transport the dead bodies free of cost to their native places as well as to the mortuary.”
