The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee and former Union Minister, Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP alliance government is responsible for the increasing cases of cyber fraud in the state. The government is adamant on portal manipulation, while due to the failure of this very manipulation, people’s data is being stolen, enabling criminals to empty their bank accounts. Therefore, the state government should compensate for the losses suffered by all victims of fraud. In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center has issued a fresh report studying cyber fraud cases in the country in 2023. It is evident from this report that after Delhi, Haryana has witnessed the highest number of cyber fraud cases.

The report indicates that 303 out of every 10 lakh people in Haryana have been targeted by cybercriminals. It is clear that bank accounts are being continuously emptied, and cyber criminals have infiltrated government schemes and various portal data. The former Union Minister Selja said that cases of manipulation have been continuously reported in the data of PPP, electricity boards, and revenue departments. Cloning of fingerprints from the revenue department’s registry, uploaded to the portal, allows cybercriminals to clear people’s bank accounts. This amount is then transferred to bank accounts in other states including Bihar, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, evidence of which has also been found by the Haryana police. Kumari Selja said that previously, data from the revenue department’s website was leaked. This data was used to clone fingerprints, and money was stolen from bank accounts.

The Haryana police had officially informed the revenue department about this matter. The Cyber Crime Police in Faridabad had also arrested three suspects from Bihar who had cleared people’s accounts. The former Union Minister said that reaching the data of 67 lakh electricity consumers in the state to cyber criminals is not hidden from anyone. The kind of messages received by electricity consumers indicates that government data has been compromised.

The incident of manipulation in the family identity card server was not hidden from anyone. This manipulation continued due to flaws in the software. When the matter was highlighted in the media, many people were arrested from places like Jind, Fatehabad, and Hisar. Kumari Selja said that it is clear from the repeated incidents that people’s data on any website of the state government is not secure at all. By putting the data of the people of the state on the website, the alliance government has created a new problem for them, which is no less than a boon for cybercriminals. The state government should now compensate for the losses suffered by those who have been cheated.
