In Bharatpur, Rajasthan, a significant incident of alleged religious conversion involving more than 400 Hindus from Uttar Pradesh has been exposed. The conversion activities were purportedly taking place in a private hotel.
Upon receiving information, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and BJP activists conducted a raid, leading to the apprehension of those involved. Local police and administration officials also responded to the situation, and the individuals engaged in religious conversion have been taken into custody. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine the reasons behind the large-scale conversion of Hindus.
The conversion efforts were reported to involve individuals attempting to induce simple, economically disadvantaged people into adopting Christianity by offering substantial incentives.
BJP district president Manoj Bharadwaj highlighted the timely intervention of activists, preventing the denigration of Hindu deities and the diversion of individuals from Hinduism. He urged the district administration to conduct a thorough investigation, emphasizing the potential negative impact on social harmony.
Pannalal Jagirdar, the Thana in charge of Mathura Gate, mentioned receiving information while on duty about outsiders attempting religious conversion in a private hotel. Some individuals have been detained and are being interrogated in connection with the case.
Discussions with the hotel management have taken place, and a comprehensive investigation is underway. Jagirdar clarified that the police were initially invited to another program and were unaware of the conversion activities. Stringent action will be taken against those found guilty as the investigation progresses.
The individuals undergoing religious conversion are reported to be residents of Uttar Pradesh, numbering around 400. Upon the arrival of BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists, the converters attempted to flee but were pursued and apprehended. Mathura Gate police have taken more than a dozen individuals involved in religious conversion into custody, conducting a detailed inquiry into the entire incident.
