The Allahabad High Court has appointed the Elders Committee for free and fair elections of the Bar Association, due to the continuous postponement of elections of District Bar Association, Prayagraj.
The bench comprising of Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Prashant Kumar after the due consultation with senior advocates of the Allahabad High Court appointed the following advocates of the District Bar Association in the Elders Committee:
1. Advocate Sri Narendra Dev Pandey
2. Advocate Sri Radha Raman Mishra
3. Advocate Sri Hari Sagar Mishra
4. Advocate Sri Dinesh Srivastava
5. Advocate Sri Rajendra Srivastava
6. Advocate Sri Raghav Singh
7. Advocate Sri Sita Ram Singh
8. Advocate Sri Pramod Singh Neeraj
The court in the case observed that on previous occasions when the said court had directed the Elders Committee in order to ensure elections are carried out in a fair and peaceful manner, the same could not be done due to chaos and nuisance created by a faction of lawyers.
The court observed that when the matter was again listed on November 01, 2023 and on the said date, it was informed that on account of chaos and nuisance created by some faction of advocates, the free and fair election could not be ensured. On the said date, in spite of adequate police protection and even the City Magistrate, who was also present in response to our previous order as it could not stop the nuisance which is created by the Advocates.
The court appointed R.K. Ojha, Senior Advocate, Amarendra Nath Singh, Senior Advocate and Bharat Pratap Singh, Advocate who are part of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association as Observers for holding free and fair election under their guidance, as the elections not be conducted under the earlier Elders Committee.
The court directed that the entire election proceedings must be recorded in CCTV cameras. The counsel, Senior Advocate Sri Anoop Trivedi assisted by Vibhu Rai for petitioners.
