Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said all Delhi based parties had betrayed Punjabis be it the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by attacking their religious shrines, discriminating against Punjabis and doing injustice with farmers and Sikh sentiments respectively and urged them to support the SAD to voice your issues in parliament.
Addressing people here in support of the SAD’s Bathinda candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal as part of the Punjab Bachao Yatra which received a massive response in the constituency, the SAD president urged Punjabis that the time had come to send out a clear message against the Delhi based parties. “Remember June 1 on voting day”, he said while reminding the people of the attack against Sri Darbar Sahib by Indira Gandhi. He also spoke on how the AAP government had betrayed every section of society by denying crop compensation to farmers, giving jobs to outsiders at the cost of youth from the State and curtailing social welfare schemes. Sukhbir Badal also spoke on how the BJP had gone back on its commitment to make MSP a legal entity besides releasing all Bandi Singhs who were still incarcerated in jails even after 26 to 28 years.
Stating that the forthcoming parliamentary election would set the tone for the formation of the next government in Punjab in 2027, Badal, who was accompanied by senior leader Dr Nishan Singh, said “Punjab has gone back by two decades during the last seven years of misrule of the Congress and AAP.
The State is bankrupt and under a Rs 3.75 lakh crore loan with the AAP government alone borrowing Rs 1 lakh crore in the last two years. Even as youth are not being given any jobs, the poor are being denied social welfare benefits extended to them by former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal”.
Asserting that the SAD alone could fulfill their aspirations, the SAD president said “Successive SAD governments have a proven track record of speedy development and infrastructure building. We have overseen the construction of four-lane roads, thermal plants and airports. The last seven years have witnessed a complete halt to all infrastructure activity. This has also resulted in the loss of investment and even the flight of investment from Punjab to other States. It is paramount to restore your faith in the SAD for all round development and peace and communal harmony.
Please leave experimentation with Delhi-based parties and support the SAD which has always stood by you and is committed to safeguarding your rights”, Badal added.
