One expected plenty of fireworks on Koffee With Karan episode four featuring Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan (Bebo). The new episode dropped on November 16 on Disney+Hotstar.
When K Jo called on the two leading stars of Bollywood—who are also related by virtue of Alia’s marriage to Ranbir Kapoor, there was palpable excitement as both the women are known to be blatantly honest. The Rocky Aur Rani director started with questions to Alia Bhatt about her baby Raha and life with Ranbir Kapoor post marriage. He then moved on to their kids getting papped and both Alia and Bebo had very different attitudes to this, which was interesting.
Kareena and Alia then spoke about their work and their contemporaries and when Bebo was asked about her competition, she dismissed it with her elegant, regal attitude implying no one could compete with her. Alia was her talkative self and droned on about some things but it wasn’t too engaging.
Unlike the previous seasons, Kareena Kapoor Khan was far too calm and seemed really zen on this episode. The highly witty Bollywood star did troll Karan which was funny to watch, given that he does all the quizzing. Of course, he did try interrogating her about not going to the Gadar party but that didn’t get the rise of the Jab We Met star. And when K Jo called Bebo Alia’s bhabhi, pat came the reply from her, “I’m not anyone’s bhabhi”.
Was the Alia-Bebo KWK episode full of sparks? Only in bits and pieces. Wish there had been more talk about the film industry rather than talk of husbands and kids which made the show look like it was for new parents rather than about two female stars ruling Bollywood.
Maybe Kareena’s dressing down of Karan, who kept talking about sex in the previous seasons, had something to do with this.
