An alert has been issued across the Jammu region in anticipation of August 5, marking the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. Intelligence agencies and security forces have reinforced their presence in sensitive areas to preempt any potential threats.

The Army, police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have heightened vigilance in the districts of Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Jammu, and Kishtwar following intelligence reports suggesting that terrorists might attempt to disrupt peace.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Jammu region, Anand Jain, convened a meeting to review the security situation for August 5 and the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory. The meeting included discussions on the inputs provided by intelligence agencies, Army, CRPF, BSF, and CID to ensure a coordinated approach in addressing security concerns.

Security forces are also collaborating with the civil administration to ensure comprehensive preparations for these significant events. Recent reports indicate a spate of terror attacks in the region, with highly trained terrorists reportedly present in the forest areas.

ADGP Jain emphasized the need for inter-agency cooperation to mitigate threats and stressed the importance of heightened vigilance in both border areas and the hinterland to prevent any infiltration attempts. The security measures aim to maintain peace and ensure the safety of residents during this critical period.
